3/24/11: Shutdown in the Shootout

Final - Shootout

Pittsburgh Penguins 2
Philadelphia Flyers 1

Goal: Richards (21)
OTL: Bobrovsky
Penguins 5-0 in the SO vs the Flyers.

The Flyers had what captain Mike Richards called a "let down" after losing to the Penguins in their fourth shootout in their past four games. The winning goal in the shootout was scored by Chris Kunitz over an hour after Tyler Kennedy tied the game in the early minutes of the 2nd period.

On the bright side, Mike Richards recorded his second straight game with a goal, it was only the second of his career against Fleury. But the story of the night was the amazing performance in net by Sergei Bobrovsky.

Bob got the nod a game after only playing the first 22 minutes versus the Capitals where he let in
3 goals on Tuesday. After Tuesday night's loss the buzz around the Flyers was about their goal tending. Tonight those talks ended and the spotlight returned to the Flyers absence of offense.

Bobrovsky vs the Pens on Thursday: 30-31, 1 goal against, OTL

Once again, the Flyers managed to squeeze out a point and still sit on top of the Atlantic Division with their four point lead now down to three with 9 games remaining. The Flyers have come just a save away from having totaled 8 points in their last four games instead of the 5 they hold.

The Flyers next game is on Saturday at 7:00pm EST when they welcome the Islanders for their fourth and final meeting of the season. Coverage on CSN.
