Flyers Power Rankings 6/12/11

I'm going to start doing this every couple of weeks. I'll rank the Flyers individual members in different categories depending on the season.

For the offseason I rate the players on:
Fans Support
Most Previous Season
Trade Value
Situation*

*Situation with Organization
Color System: Green - Untouchable, Yellow - Iffy, Orange - In Trouble, Red - Likely Gone

1) Daniel Briere - Fans are still in love and he keeps producing. The only flaw is his large contract, but despite all the Flyers cap needs his name has not been brought up once.

2) Kimmo Timonen - Like Briere, Timonen's name has not been brought up in any rumors or uproars despite have a huge contract.

3) Claude Giroux - Stepped up and made his first all-star game last season. Fans love his play and the
contract he signed last summer.

4) Mike Richards - Constantly battling the media, Richards and his teammates stepped up to turn down everything being said about the captain and shot down all rumors about him.

5) Scott Hartnell - He's some how dodged every rumor that has flown his way in rout to become a somewhat untouchable ecen with a 4.2 million dollar contract.

6) Chris Pronger - Due to his injury and the uncertainty that came with it Pronger's ranking has dropped. Still at number 6 for the way he supported captain Mike Richards. And he's a monster.

7) James van Riemsdyk - If it weren't for the constant trade rumors that come with a young budding forward JVR would a lot higher, especially with his terrific offseason.

8) Andrej Meszaros - The first year Flyer really stepped into the spotlight this season becoming one of their top defenseman by the end of the year. Once again, a hefty contract and no trade rumors.

9) Braydon Coburn - Despite the trade rumors that come with a player entering the last year on their contract, Coburn has blossomed with the team becoming an outstanding defensive defensemen.

10) Ville Leino - Wouldn't expect a player who seems so in trouble of being this high? Well that's how much the Flyers organization and fans love the player he is.

11) Blair Betts - Not the face-off man he used to be but still is a great defensive forward and the undisputed fourth line's center.

12) Jeff Carter - If you haven't heard, Carter is going to be traded to every team to Anaheim to the KHL. Holmgren is hesitant on dealing him, so he banks into the "iffy" category.

13) Sergei Bobrovsky - A terrible post season only led to the Flyers going out and trading for potential starting goalie Ilya Bryzgalov. But his future will be in the orange and black.

14) Ilya Bryzgalov - Probably the most talked about Flyers, isn't even a Flyer yet. His situation is very murky right now and a deal needs to be done soon before the Flyers lose his rights.

15) Andreas Nodl - Still a restricted free agent this summer, Nodl is the least of the Flyers worries at this point. Expect him back next season, but still without a contract it's iffy.

16) Sean O'Donnell - No word on what OD will be doing next season, but if he decides to play another year you can bet it will be with the orange and black.

17) Matt Carle - As said many times, Carle is the odd man out if Holmgren decides not to trade Carter or Versteeg. With one year left on his deal, don't expected here long either way.

18) Darroll Powe - Fans seem split on whether to re-sign the 26 year old utility player. He's a great bang for your buck playing top PK minutes at only 400k.

19) Kris Versteeg - You either love him or hate him. Trade value is very low on Steeger as he would be going to his 5th team at only age 25.

20) Brian Boucher - Fans still love the guy despite his collapse in the post season. If the Flyers don't reach a deal with Bryzgalov he could return but it's unlikely.

21) Jody Shelley - Ranked so low for his lack of, well, much of anything this year. Deadly combo when added to a contract that some would say if unfavorable.

22) Dan Carcillo - It seems as though, with little cap space or tolerance, Car Bomb's time in the orange and black will come to an end.

23) Nik Zherdev - Flyers fans knew it was a one and done deal with Z, however that didn't stop them from rooting for the guy. Doubt he returns especially with these rumors about him and his wife flying around.
