Bryzgalov is entering his seventh full NHL, but at 30 years old this may be his biggest yet. There are huge expectations and demands for this team who won't settle for anything less than a cup. Many feel the Russian goaltender has all the answers.
In his past four seasons in Phoenix, Bryzgalov stunned critics and his former team - the Anaheim Duck - who put him on waivers back in 2007. Last season his number fell a bit but so did the play of the Yotes defense. Regardless Bryz managed to put up a goals against average under 2.5 and tied his career best with a .921 save percentage.
In the past two seasons Ilya's Coyotes were dismantled by the always ready Detroit Red Wings. Don;t blame Bryzgalov, his defense was reminiscent of the Flyers versus the Bruins this past May. With a new team in front of him watch out for Bryzgalov as he attempts to set new career highs and tear down already sky-rocking expectations.
The Flyers have some moves to make now. Expect a trade to happen at the draft on Friday. Until then tweet me @FlyersFire, Comment in the box below or on the sidebar of every page, or send me an e-mail at Codywilliamgray@gmail.com.
