Summer Surgeries Part II

Last season I made a a quick post highlighting Leino and Carcillo's injuries. This season is a completely different story. And this one quite well tells why the Flyers had been playing some of their worst hockey of the season down the stretch.

Chris Pronger underwent successful surgery on a herniated disc in his back and expects to be walking tomorrow. Expected to be ready come training camp. Vague timetable.

Kris Versteeg had surgery on two abdominal tears, he begins rehabbing in 10 days.

Mike Richards underwent surgery on his wrist that had been injured for months, explaining a lot about his sub-par play.

Blair Betts underwent surgery to repair a broken finger, should rehab quickly.

Andrej Meszaros also had surgery on his wrist. Who would have guess this guy would have had a torn cartilage and still play 30+ every night?

Michael Leighton may have been in surgery longer than he was in net this season. Leights had surgery on a torn labrum in his shoulder.

Carter still has his knee/hip injury lingering from that first round series. Also, Scotty Hartnell has been dealing with some hip issues. As of right now, neither will require surgery.

I'm sure there are others, mostly those who are set to be UFAs/RFAs that would rather not have their injuries publicized right away. The good news, none seems to require a long rehab, all should be ready for the 2011-2012 season.
