Not even a season after beating the Flyers in the finals Kris Versteeg joined them. Steeger is small but tough and plays a great style of hockey. When acquired he had racked up 14 goals with Toronto and went on to have 8 more with Philadelphia in a few months time.
Versteeg is an odd character, at only 25 he is with his fourth franchise. Boston gave up on the winger sending him to Chicago for Brandon Bochenski, who was brought in for depth in the playoffs. Later Chicago had to let him go after not having the cap room to keep him. Finally, Toronto and Brian Burke decided he was not their style of player and sent him to Philadelphia in exchange for a 3rd round pick.
This guy plays the game right, he hustles for loose pucks and forechecks with the best of them. His scoring touch can be very streaky. Set to be a restricted free agent next season, the Flyers may save some cap room to work him into their future for a long time to come.
