Recent Scores: Tuesday - NJD 3 PHI 2, Wednesday - NYI 1 PHI 3

Islanders at Flyers Sept 29th
A night after the Flyers dropped their first game in regulation during this preseason they came back versus the Isles 'B' team. The Isles had a game in Ottawa and Philly, and Philly got the Bridgeport Sound Tigers version. Heading in the Flyers had a record of 3-1-1 in this preseason.

Of the Flyers competing for a spot who played were: Marc-andre Bourdon, Johan Gustafsson, Daniel Carcillo, Darroll Powe, and Sergei Bobrovsky. James van Riemsdyk started off the scoring with an early backhander. Carter later put the Flyers up by 2 with his 3rd and 4th goals of the preseason. Zherdev's scoring streak ended at 3 games, with 4 goals.

Headlines

With the news of Michael Leighton being out for the first month of the season Sergei Bobrovsky has a chance to impress. Bobrovsky won his third game on Wednesday, making 32 saves, and improved his record to 3-0-1. Bobrovsky will challenge Boucher for the starting job and looks to be the favorite heading into the start of the season.

'Red Shirts', Ville Leino and Blair Betts, skated in their 1st preseason game on wednesday. Betts, who got offseason shoulder surgery, played well skating with the 4th line and also the Penalty Kill. Betts looks ready for the season after throwing hit after hit. Leino, who had offseason hip surgery, looked good at first but then after being hit a few times slowed down (understandably). Leino had shown he hasn't missed a beat performing a few nice dangles.

As reported widely earlier this week, Ian Laperriere is out indefinatly will Post Concussion Syndrome. Lappy undoubtably played injured throughout the Blackhawks series last post season, and now after skating for a week in training camp is out with PCS. Post Concussion Syndrome has taken it's toll on Bruins forward Marc Savard who is also out indefinatly due to a hit suffered mid-season last year.

Roster Updates

The Flyers trimmed their roster earlier this week. Of those who left, most were sent to the Adirondack Phantoms. Names included: Pat Maroon, Stephan Legein, Zac Rinaldo, and goalie Nic Riopel. Michael Chaput, the Flyers 1st pick in this year's draft, was sent back to his junior team. Tye McGinn, who was the second player taken by Flyers this year, was sent to the Phantoms to begin his pro career.
