Shelly scored 2 pivitol goals versus the Flyers when playing for the Rangers. He almost singled handedly knock the Flyers out of the Playoffs had it not been for Matt Carle in game 82.
The deal is 3.3M over 3 years. A good deal for a guy that may take the place for Dan Carcillo who is a RFA at the moment. Shelly is a fighter by trade, but at 34 could turn into more of a grinder.
Ian Laperierre's return is in question after playing in the playoffs last season where Lappy wasn't very effective. As said earlier Shelly could take the place of Carcillo.
