As expected the Flyers signed Free Agent Right Winger Nikolai Zherdev to a contract today. A 1 year deal, finacial terms were not comfired but upwards of 2M is the rumor.
Zherdev is 25 and just finished his 1st season with the KHL's Atlant Moscow Oblast. Zherdev was a 1st round pick in the 2003 entry draft and played 4 NHL seasons with the Columbus Blue Jackets and NY Rangers.
“Nik is a highly-skilled player who, at 25-years-old, we feel will be a good fit to our core of forwards,” said Holmgren. “Prior to playing last season in Russia, Nik ranked as one of the top young point-producers in the NHL. We are pleased to add him to our team.” via Flyers
Zherdev is set to take the role of veteran winger Simon Gagne who is set to be traded.
