Flyers after the Russian

The NHL's version of LeBron James and Josh Childress; Ilya Kovalchuk and Nikolai Zherdev. Ilya has been all over major news networks and just like Lebron has kept fans on the edge of their seats without signing anywhere. While Childress and Zherdev both come from over seas with big time potential.

Zherdev spend last season with the Atlant Moscow Oblast of the KHL, where he put up 13 goals and 26 assists in 52 games. Zherdev spent the 3 seasons in the NHL and played in the 04-05 season before the lockout. He has totals of 99 goals and 140 assists in 365 NHL games, also a minus 46.

The Russian is 25 and was draft 4th overall by Columbus in 2003. He is a great skater with awesome scoring potential, has just had trouble reaching it.

The Flyers were the latest team said to be interested, Zherdev has also had interest from several Northeast Division teams. Last night the Flyers were said to be close with the KHL winger. Zherdev signed for 1 year with Atlant of the KHL last fall.
