2007 Draft: The Year of the Mullet
If 2004 is being regarded as the best draft in NHL history, then 2007 must be addressed as the least stylish draft. The mullet found a home in the 1st round as Chicago's Patrick Kane and Philadelphia's James van Riemsdyk sported the uber fashionable hairstyle.
Although the mullet's known as being business in the front, party in the back this draft was the opposite. 3 of the top 10 picks in the draft went on to give the mullet a home. Patrick Kane, JvR, and Jakub Voracek all had the same thought. While picks 20 and 22, Angelo Esposito(Photo) and Max Pacioretty(Photo), went with a more refined version of the ageless gem.
The Washington Capitals held the 5th overall pick and had no hesitation in grabbing Karl Alzner. The dark horse bypassed the hairstyle and went straight to what the people want. The fans are tired of the mullet, Karl knew that, so he took on the racoon route. The cowboy top makes it fun for all fans.
There you have it 2007, the draft that fashion left behind.

Flyers sink the Devils ship and look to Steal their Captain
After Devil's captain Jamie Langenbrunner was scratched from the line up last night versus the Flyers word came out the the long time Devil had agreed to waive his no trade clause. Speculation arose and rumors came out that the Flyers are among a big group of teams that are interested in the US born olympian.
However this morning Langenbrunner was traded back to the Dallas Stars. The team he grew up and bloomed into the NHL star that he is today with.
The fact that the Flyers were even in the bidding for Langenbrunner shows that Paul Holmgren has hopes of improving this Flyers team before spring. With Leighton sent to the Phantoms and Matt Walker recovering from his hip injury, the Flyers have a tad over 3 million to spend.
The Flyers handed the Devils their 28th loss of the season last night on the heels of a late game come back headed by the goal scoring of Danny Briere and Scotty Hartnell. Each had a pair of goals and Boucher won his 9th game of the season and lowered his GAA to 2.31.
The Flyers next game is Saturday against these same Devils and maybe some new faces as the Devils can dress a full roster.
